Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Germany (X cubic meters) was the main destination for wood fuel exports from Poland, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, wood fuel exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X cubic meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the Netherlands (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+X% per year) and the Netherlands (+X% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the peak figure in 2020 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Wood fuel imports into Poland declined modestly to X cubic meters in 2020, stabilizing at the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2016 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wood fuel imports expanded markedly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

The Czech Republic (X cubic meters), Ukraine (X cubic meters) and Belarus (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of wood fuel imports to Poland, together comprising X% of total imports.
