Polyvinyl Chloride Market Size in Peru

The Peruvian polyvinyl chloride market reduced markedly to $X in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption showed a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Polyvinyl chloride consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

Polyvinyl chloride exports from Peru expanded rapidly to X tonnes in 2020, picking up by X% on the year before. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, polyvinyl chloride exports totaled $X in 2020. In general, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Ecuador (X tonnes), Colombia (X tonnes) and Bolivia (X tonnes) were the main destinations of polyvinyl chloride exports from Peru, together comprising X% of total exports. Mexico lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Mexico, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for polyvinyl chloride exported from Peru were Ecuador ($X), Colombia ($X) and Bolivia ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, which accounted for a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Mexico recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average polyvinyl chloride export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to Ecuador ($X per tonne) and Mexico ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($X per tonne) and Colombia ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bolivia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Polyvinyl Chloride Imports

Imports into Peru

In 2020, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of polyvinyl chloride (in primary forms), when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tonnes in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, polyvinyl chloride imports reduced markedly to $X in 2020. In general, imports showed a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2020, the U.S. (X tonnes) constituted the largest polyvinyl chloride supplier to Peru, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, polyvinyl chloride imports from the U.S. exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (X tonnes), threefold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from the U.S. amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+X% per year) and Colombia (-X% per year).

In value terms, the U.S. ($X) constituted the largest supplier of polyvinyl chloride to Peru, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Mexico ($X), with a X% share of total imports.

In 2020, the average polyvinyl chloride import price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per tonne), while the price for Mexico ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
