The Panamanian lamp holder market shrank slightly to $X in 2022, dropping by -3.9% against the previous year. For the third consecutive year, Panama recorded decline in shipments abroad of lamp holders, plugs and sockets, which decreased by -7.8% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 228%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lamp holder exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 149% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Ecuador (X tons), Jamaica (X tons) and Peru (X tons) were the main destinations of lamp holder exports from Panama, together comprising 11% of total exports.

In 2022, approx. X tons of lamp holders, plugs and sockets were imported into Panama; dropping by -17.2% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 163%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lamp holder imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 559% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Free Zones (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of lamp holder imports to Panama, together comprising 0.9% of total imports. Mexico, Costa Rica, Indonesia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 0.1%.
