Photographic Film Market Size in Pakistan

In 2020, the Pakistani photographic film market decreased by -X% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, consumption remained at a lower figure.

For the sixth year in a row, Pakistan recorded decline in overseas shipments of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed, which decreased by -X% to X square meters in 2020. In general, exports faced a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X square meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, photographic film exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. From 2012 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Bahrain (X square meters) was the main destination for photographic film exports from Pakistan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, photographic film exports to Bahrain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Djibouti (X square meters), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Bahrain totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Djibouti (X% per year) and Sweden (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average photographic film export price amounted to $X per square meter, declining by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the maximum at $X per square meter in 2019, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Photographic Film Imports

Imports into Pakistan

In 2020, the amount of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed imported into Pakistan fell to X square meters, reducing by -X% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photographic film imports declined dramatically to $X in 2020. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The U.S. (X square meters), China (X square meters) and Belgium (X square meters) were the main suppliers of photographic film imports to Pakistan, together comprising X% of total imports. Japan, Taiwan (Chinese) and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+X% per year), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest photographic film suppliers to Pakistan were Japan ($X), China ($X) and Belgium ($X), together comprising X% of total imports. Import Prices by Country

The average photographic film import price stood at $X per square meter in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, photographic film import price increased by +X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per square meter in 2019, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while the price for the U.S. ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
