In 2022, the MENA's frozen lobster market decreased by -51.6% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of frozen lobster, when their volume increased by 45% to X tons. Overall, exports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 285% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen lobster exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted a prominent expansion. Egypt was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at 53% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 27% share, followed by Oman (13%). Bahrain (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +155.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) emerged as the largest frozen lobster supplier in MENA, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with an 8.7% share.
