After five years of growth, overseas purchases of aluminium decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2018, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium imports plummeted to $X in 2019. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

The U.S. (X tonnes), Canada (X tonnes) and India (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of aluminium imports to Mexico, with a combined X% share of total imports. Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per tonne), while the price for Viet Nam ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
