Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 603% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wind powered generator imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 385% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Peru was the largest importing country with an import of around X units, which finished at 76% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X units), generating an 18% share of total imports. Colombia (X units) and Brazil (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Peru was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wind powered generating sets imports, with a CAGR of +161.9% from 2012 to 2021. In Brazil, wind powered generator imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Argentina (+71.6% per year) and Colombia (+72.6% per year).

In 2021, the import price in MERCOSUR amounted to $X per unit, surging by 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 273% against the previous year.
