The country with the largest volume of steatite production was Peru (X tons), accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, steatite production in Peru exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Guatemala (X tons), fivefold.

Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

For the fourth consecutive year, LatAmerica and the Caribbean recorded decline in overseas shipments of steatites, which decreased by -X% to X tons in 2019. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, steatite exports contracted to $X in 2019. Overall, exports, however, showed measured growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Brazil (X tons) and Peru (X tons) prevails in steatite exports structure, together achieving X% of total exports. The following exporters - Guatemala (X tons) and Colombia (X tons) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, imports failed to regain the momentum.
