In value terms, cabbage exports reduced notably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports faced a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. As a result, exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tonnes) was the main destination for cabbage exports from Kazakhstan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus (X tonnes), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-X% per year) and Uzbekistan (-X% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the key foreign market for cabbage exports from Kazakhstan, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

In 2020, the average cabbage export price amounted to $X per tonne, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Kazakhstan

Cabbage imports into Kazakhstan contracted markedly to X tonnes in 2020, waning by -X% on the year before. Overall, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cabbage imports declined notably to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, Uzbekistan (X tonnes) was the main cabbage supplier to Kazakhstan, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, cabbage imports from Uzbekistan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tonnes), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Uzbekistan amounted to +X%.

In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cabbage to Kazakhstan, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China ($X), with a X% share of total imports.
