Watermelon Market Size in Japan

Exports by Country

China, Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) was the main destination for watermelon exports from Japan, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, watermelon exports to China, Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X tonnes), more than tenfold. Malaysia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

Over the period under review, watermelon imports reached their peak figure at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

The U.S. (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and Mexico (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of watermelon imports to Japan, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, the largest watermelon suppliers to Japan were the U.S. ($X), South Korea ($X) and Mexico ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports.
