Scent Spray Market Size in Japan

The revenue of the scent spray market in Japan amounted to $X in 2018, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, scent spray consumption continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. The UK (X tonnes) was the main destination for scent spray exports from Japan, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, scent spray exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X tonnes), threefold. China (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (-X% per year) and China (-X% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Viet Nam ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Japan

In 2018, the amount of scent sprays imported into Japan totaled X tonnes, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, scent spray imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, scent spray imports reached their peak figure at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2018, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, scent spray imports amounted to $X in 2018. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2018; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded over the period under review. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Thailand (X tonnes) constituted the largest scent spray supplier to Japan, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, scent spray imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tonnes), twofold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by South Korea (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Thailand was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-X% per year) and South Korea (+X% per year).
