Acetone Market Size in Iran

The Iranian acetone market reduced sharply to $X in 2020, falling by -X% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

In 2020, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of acetone, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, exports saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, acetone exports amounted to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X tonnes) was the main destination for acetone exports from Iran, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, acetone exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Armenia (X kg), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United Arab Emirates amounted to -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (-X% per year) and Azerbaijan (+X% per year).

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the key foreign market for acetone exports from Iran, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Armenia ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to the United Arab Emirates stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (-X% per year) and Azerbaijan (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average acetone export price amounted to $X per tonne, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2015 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Iran

Acetone imports into Iran dropped remarkably to X tonnes in 2020, waning by -X% against the year before. In general, imports, however, posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, acetone imports declined notably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

India (X tonnes), South Korea (X tonnes) and the United Arab Emirates (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of acetone imports to Iran, together comprising X% of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese) and South Africa lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Africa, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($X per tonne) and the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne), while the price for South Africa ($X per tonne) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
