Cottonseed Market Size in Indonesia

The revenue of the cottonseed market in Indonesia amounted to $X in 2018, going up by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, cottonseed exports attained their peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Malaysia (X tonnes) was the main destination for cottonseed exports from Indonesia, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, cottonseed exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tonnes), twofold. Taiwan, Chinese (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to Malaysia stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+X% per year) and Taiwan, Chinese (-X% per year).

In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the key foreign market for cottonseed exports from Indonesia, comprising X% of total cottonseed exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by China ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan, Chinese, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value to Malaysia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+X% per year) and Taiwan, Chinese (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average cottonseed export price amounted to $X per tonne, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the cottonseed export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the average export prices for cottonseed attained their maximum at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Japan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Indonesia

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of cottonseed were imported into Indonesia; picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, cottonseed imports continue to indicate an outstanding increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, cottonseed imports reached their peak and are likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cottonseed imports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, cottonseed imports continue to indicate a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2018, the U.S. (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of cottonseed to Indonesia, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, cottonseed imports from the U.S. exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Myanmar (X tonnes), threefold.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume from the U.S. totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Myanmar (+X% per year) and Malaysia (+X% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per tonne), while the price for the U.S. ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
