The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ferro-alloys exports declined to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands represented the largest exporter of ferro-alloys in the European Union, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Finland (X%), France (X%), Italy (X%), Germany (X%) and Belgium (X%).

Exports from the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Italy (X%), Poland (X%), Finland (X%) and France (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Germany (X%) and Belgium (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (X p.p.), Italy (X p.p.) and Finland (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Germany and Belgium saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest ferro-alloys supplier in the European Union, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value in the Netherlands amounted to X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belgium (X% per year) and Poland (X% per year).

Imports in the EU

In 2023, supplies from abroad of ferro-alloys decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ferro-alloys imports contracted notably to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2022, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the six major importers of ferro-alloys, namely the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), making up a X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
