Exports in ECOWAS

In 2022, the amount of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures exported in ECOWAS shrank to X units, falling by X% against 2021 figures. In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware exports rose to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Ghana was the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Senegal (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units), together achieving a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Mali (X units), Togo (X units) and Benin (X units) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Ghana increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Nigeria (X%), Benin (X%), Mali (X%) and Senegal (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Togo (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Togo ($X per unit), while Gambia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
