Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 22%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fresh pork carcase exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons), together reaching 76% of total export. The Czech Republic (X tons) took a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Slovakia (9.6%). The following exporters - Estonia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) - each finished at a 4% share of total exports.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Bulgaria ($X per ton) and Hungary ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) and the Czech Republic ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
