In 2018, the amount of broken rice exported in Eastern Asia stood at X tonnes, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, broken rice exports continue to indicate an abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, broken rice exports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

China was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tonnes, which reached X% of total exports. Taiwan, Chinese (X tonnes) occupied the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by China, Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes). All these countries together occupied approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, average annual rates of growth with regard to broken rice exports from China stood at -X%. China, Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. South Korea (-X%) and Taiwan, Chinese (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2007 to 2018, the share of South Korea, Taiwan, Chinese and China decreased by -X%, -X% and -X% percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest broken rice supplier in Eastern Asia, comprising X% of total broken rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by South Korea ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Taiwan, Chinese, with a X% share.

In China, broken rice exports shrank by an average annual rate of -X% over the period from 2007-2018. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Korea (+X% per year) and Taiwan, Chinese (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The broken rice export price in Eastern Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2018, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the broken rice export price continues to indicate a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the export prices for broken rice attained their maximum at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per tonne), while Taiwan, Chinese ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The imports totaled X tonnes in 2018, falling by -X% against the previous year. Overall, broken rice imports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, broken rice imports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, broken rice imports stood at $X in 2018. Overall, broken rice imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The level of imports peaked at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

China prevails in broken rice imports structure, accounting for X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2018. Japan (X tonnes) occupied a little share of total imports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the broken rice imports, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007 to 2018. Japan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2007-2018, the share of Japan (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported broken rice in Eastern Asia, comprising X% of total broken rice imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Japan ($X), with a X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +X%.
