The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 224% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, bed linen exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 125%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Slovenia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main destinations of bed linen exports from Croatia, together accounting for 96% of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +192.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Slovenia ($X) remains the key foreign market for bed linen exports from Croatia, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with a 9.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Slovenia stood at +33.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+35.6% per year) and Serbia (+12.0% per year).

The average bed linen export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 182%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Croatia
Bed linen imports into Croatia rose to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 3.3% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, bed linen imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -8.9% against 2018 indices. Pakistan (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of bed linen imports to Croatia, with a combined 60% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +50.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Pakistan ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the largest bed linen suppliers to Croatia, with a combined 59% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +46.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average bed linen import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
