Moreover, frozen vegetables production in Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Kazakhstan (X tonnes), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Uzbekistan (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume in Russia was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+X% per year) and Uzbekistan (+X% per year).

Exports in CIS

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The volume of export peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, frozen vegetables exports contracted sharply to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a moderate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2020, Belarus (X tonnes) represented the largest exporter of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables, comprising X% of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tonnes) occupied the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tonnes). All these countries together occupied approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belarus, while exports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2020, with a combined X% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Belarus recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The frozen vegetables export price in the CIS stood at $X per tonne in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per tonne), while Belarus ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan, while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2020, the amount of frozen vegetables and mixtures of vegetables imported in the CIS shrank rapidly to X tonnes, waning by -X% compared with 2019 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The volume of import peaked at X tonnes in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, frozen vegetables imports dropped significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia was the major importing country with an import of around X tonnes, which resulted at X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tonnes), generating a X% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Belarus (+X%) and Kazakhstan (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. Belarus (+X p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively.
