The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the production volume increased by 3.9% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of coffee (decaffeinated or roasted) increased by 30% to X tons, rising for the fifth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 51% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, decaffeinated or roasted coffee exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a measured increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 34%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Russia dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 81% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Armenia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together achieving a 19% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to decaffeinated or roasted coffee exports from Russia stood at +7.8%. At the same time, Belarus (+24.9%) and Armenia (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +24.9% from 2012-2021. Belarus (+6.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Armenia saw its share reduced by -6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest decaffeinated or roasted coffee supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Armenia ($X), with an 8.4% share of total exports.
In Russia, decaffeinated or roasted coffee exports increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Armenia (+1.0% per year) and Belarus (+18.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (-1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
For the tenth year in a row, the CIS recorded growth in purchases abroad of coffee (decaffeinated or roasted), which increased by 21% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, decaffeinated or roasted coffee imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +99.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the main importer of coffee (decaffeinated or roasted), generating 71% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving an 18% share of total imports. Armenia (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Armenia (+37.3%), Moldova (+19.4%), Kazakhstan (+18.1%) and Belarus (+11.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +37.3% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Armenia increased by +3.7 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported coffee (decaffeinated or roasted) in the CIS, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Armenia, with a 3.4% share.
In Russia, decaffeinated or roasted coffee imports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+7.6% per year) and Armenia (+29.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 2.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 8.5% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Russia ($X per ton) and Moldova ($X per ton), while Armenia ($X per ton) and Belarus ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (-2.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
