Asparagus exports surged to X tons in 2022, jumping by X% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, asparagus exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Armenia was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached X% of total exports. Russia (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X kg) and Kazakhstan (X kg). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports.
Armenia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the asparagus exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Kazakhstan (X%) and Russia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Kazakhstan ($X per ton) and Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) and Armenia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in CIS
Asparagus imports dropped to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of X% against the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, asparagus imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Moldova (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports. Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Moldova (X%), Kazakhstan (X%) and Belarus (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Kazakhstan (X p.p.), Moldova (X p.p.) and Belarus (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
