Germany, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Belarus, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +151.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for pen or pencil sets exports from China, comprising 20% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 7.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States totaled +2.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+0.2% per year) and Germany (+7.8% per year).

The average pen or pencil sets export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 19%. Imports into China
In 2022, supplies from abroad of pen or pencil sets increased by 12% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, pen or pencil sets imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
