Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Hong Kong SAR (X tons) was the main destination for molasse exports from China, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, molasse exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Hong Kong SAR amounted to -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-X% per year) and Indonesia (X% per year).

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) remains the key foreign market for molasse exports from China, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Hong Kong SAR totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (X% per year) and Japan (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average molasse export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into China

For the fourth year in a row, China recorded decline in purchases abroad of molasses, which decreased by -X% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, molasse imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports faced a deep slump. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), New Zealand (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of molasse imports to China, together accounting for X% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, which accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, New Zealand ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the largest molasse suppliers to China, together comprising X% of total imports.
