From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the key producing countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of X%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2023, the average yield of vegetables in Central Asia expanded significantly to X tons per ha, with an increase of X% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, the yield, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the vegetable yield hit record highs at X tons per ha in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, the yield stood at a somewhat lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

In 2023, the total area harvested in terms of vegetables production in Central Asia reduced to X ha, shrinking by X% compared with the year before. The total harvested area indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2023: its figure increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vegetable exports expanded significantly to $X in 2023. In general, exports recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2023 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Uzbekistan represented the largest exporter of vegetables in Central Asia, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Turkmenistan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Uzbekistan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vegetables exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Turkmenistan (X%), Kazakhstan (X%) and Tajikistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (X p.p.) and Turkmenistan (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. Imports in Central Asia

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2022, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, vegetable imports declined to $X in 2023. In general, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2022, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

Kazakhstan represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons), together committing a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Mongolia (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
