Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, crabs, not frozen imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 395%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X kg) represented the major importer of crabs, not frozen, mixing up 73% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mongolia (X kg), achieving a 27% share of total imports.

Imports into Kazakhstan decreased at an average annual rate of -4.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mongolia (+14.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mongolia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2022.
