Belgium was also the fastest-growing in terms of the refined lead (unwrought) exports, with a CAGR of +2.4% from 2012 to 2022. The Netherlands (-15.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belgium increased by +12 percentage points.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest refined lead supplier in Benelux, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 2.2% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 563% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, refined lead imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 614%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands was the main importer of refined lead (unwrought) in Benelux, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), making up an 11% share of total imports. Luxembourg (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the refined lead (unwrought) imports, with a CAGR of -6.2% from 2012 to 2022. Luxembourg (-8.2%) and Belgium (-37.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+75 p.p.) and Luxembourg (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -77.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported refined lead (unwrought) in Benelux, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 13% share of total imports.
In the Netherlands, refined lead imports declined by an average annual rate of -5.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (-35.6% per year) and Luxembourg (-4.9% per year).

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
