Switzerland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of pulses exports from Austria, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Hungary, Romania, Russia, the UK, Slovakia and Slovenia, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of pulses increased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest pulses supplier to Austria, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, pulses imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tons), threefold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
