In value terms, vegetable oils exports contracted significantly to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In 2023, Malaysia (X tons) represented the major exporter of vegetable fats and oils, committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), creating a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Malaysia decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Indonesia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vegetable oils imports shrank notably to $X in 2023. Overall, imports showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2023, Malaysia (X tons) represented the largest importer of vegetable fats and oils, constituting X% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Thailand (X%), the Philippines (X%) and Singapore (X%). Indonesia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Vietnam (X%), the Philippines (X%) and Singapore (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
