Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, miscellaneous ferro-alloys exports contracted markedly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2023, South Africa (X tons) was the largest exporter of miscellaneous ferro-alloys, comprising X% of total exports. Zimbabwe (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports.

Exports from South Africa decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Zimbabwe (X%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of Zimbabwe (X p.p.) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of South Africa (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest miscellaneous ferro-alloys supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa stood at X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Democratic Republic of the Congo (X% per year) and Zimbabwe (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a temperate expansion. From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Africa

Miscellaneous ferro-alloys imports shrank remarkably to X tons in 2023, declining by X% against the previous year. Overall, imports showed a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, miscellaneous ferro-alloys imports reduced notably to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year.
