The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 945% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

South Africa represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X tons), comprising a 16% share of total exports.
South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chlorosulphuric acid exports, with a CAGR of +11.7% from 2012 to 2022. Egypt (-4.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of South Africa increased by +36 percentage points.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) emerged as the largest chlorosulphuric acid supplier in Africa, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, growing by 111% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per ton), while Egypt totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+2.4%).

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of chlorosulphuric acid decreased by -4.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
In value terms, chlorosulphuric acid imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 152%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Uganda dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 54% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Mali (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Mozambique (X tons), Zambia (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons), together generating a 29% share of total imports. Tanzania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Uganda was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chlorosulphuric acid imports, with a CAGR of +89.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cameroon (+53.8%), Mali (+39.9%), Tanzania (+29.0%), Mozambique (+21.9%), Zambia (+18.7%) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Uganda (+53 p.p.), Mali (+7.6 p.p.), Cameroon (+4.4 p.p.), Mozambique (+3 p.p.), Tanzania (+2.8 p.p.) and Zambia (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Democratic Republic of the Congo saw its share reduced by -5.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, the largest chlorosulphuric acid importing markets in Africa were Uganda ($X), Cameroon ($X) and Mali ($X), together accounting for 44% of total imports.
Uganda, with a CAGR of +69.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cameroon ($X per ton), while Uganda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mozambique (+7.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
