Zinc Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023
The average zinc export price stood at $2,957 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 4.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,073 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Serbia ($3,062 per ton) and Romania ($3,046 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($2,783 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($2,828 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Zinc Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022
The average zinc import price stood at $3,289 per ton in 2021, rising by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,489 per ton), while the price for Italy stood at $3,218 per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Zinc Exports in Bulgaria
In 2022, shipments abroad of zinc decreased by -4.1% to 64K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 4.4%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 70K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, zinc exports soared to $263M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +57.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
