Zinc Alloys Price in South Korea (FOB) - 2022
The average zinc alloys export price stood at $3,279 per ton in December 2022, declining by -2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 5.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $4,336 per ton in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to December 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($3,793 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($1,774 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Zinc Alloys Price in South Korea (CIF) - 2022
The average zinc alloys import price stood at $3,533 per ton in 2022, falling by -20.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 188% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,428 per ton in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($23,759 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($1,210 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Zinc Alloys Exports in South Korea
Zinc alloys exports from South Korea contracted remarkably to 101K tons in 2022, waning by -25.6% against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 24%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 136K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, zinc alloys exports declined to $387M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +39.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 56%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $433M, and then shrank in the following year.
