Yoghurt Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2021

The average yoghurt import price stood at $1,257 per ton in November 2021, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2020 an increase of 11% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,513 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to November 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,714 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($779 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Yoghurt Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2021

The average yoghurt export price stood at $1,963 per ton in November 2021, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2020 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,439 per ton. From January 2021 to November 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($5,933 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,565 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Yoghurt Imports in Bulgaria

In 2022, supplies from abroad of yoghurt decreased by -10.9% to 12K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 14K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, yoghurt imports declined significantly to $16M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $18M, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Yoghurt Exports in Bulgaria

In 2022, the amount of yoghurt exported from Bulgaria contracted modestly to 6.4K tons, approximately equating 2021. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1.6%.

In value terms, yoghurt exports shrank slightly to $13M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 2.4%.
