Yoghurt Price in Algeria (FOB) - 2022

The average yoghurt export price stood at $894 per ton in 2022, picking up by 5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,288 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Libya.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Libya amounted to -2.6% per year.

Yoghurt Price in Algeria (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average yoghurt import price amounted to $2,207 per ton, with a decrease of -14.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 31%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,589 per ton, and then fell in the following year.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Palestine ($2,367 per ton), while the price for France stood at $2,173 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Yoghurt Exports in Algeria

In 2022, shipments abroad of yoghurt decreased by -4.3% to 772 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 9.4%.

In value terms, yoghurt exports stood at $690K in 2022. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.

Yoghurt Imports in Algeria

In 2022, imports of yoghurt into Algeria skyrocketed to 135 kg, jumping by 42% compared with the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -23.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 65%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 177 kg. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, yoghurt imports skyrocketed to $298 in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -15.1% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 53%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $351. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
