Whisky Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022

The average whisky import price stood at $4.8 per litre in 2022, shrinking by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $8.7 per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($13 per litre), while the price for India ($1.4 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Whisky Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022

The average whisky export price stood at $7.8 per litre in 2022, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 104% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($8.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($1.4 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Angola (+21.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Whisky Imports in the United Arab Emirates

Whisky imports into the United Arab Emirates shrank rapidly to 45M litres in 2022, with a decrease of -18.9% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 56M litres, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, whisky imports fell markedly to $219M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 83%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $283M, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Whisky Exports in the United Arab Emirates

For the third consecutive year, the United Arab Emirates recorded decline in overseas shipments of whisky, which decreased by -7.4% to 3.7M litres in 2022. Overall, exports saw a abrupt slump. The smallest decline of -0.8% was in 2021. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at 4.6M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, whisky exports fell slightly to $29M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $29M in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
