In August 2023, the average wheat gluten import price amounted to $1,650 per ton, reducing by -20.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 36% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,124 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Hungary ($2,026 per ton) and France ($1,987 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($1,584 per ton) and Belgium ($1,702 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wheat gluten export price stood at $2,054 per ton in 2022, growing by 8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 30%. The export price peaked at $2,097 per ton in 2020; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets.
