Wheat Gluten Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
The average wheat gluten import price stood at $1,532 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat gluten import price increased by +1.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 66% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,921 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the United Arab Emirates ($1,701 per ton) and the Netherlands ($1,590 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,302 per ton) and Belgium ($1,334 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Gluten Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
The average wheat gluten export price stood at $1,884 per ton in 2022, declining by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat gluten export price decreased by -12.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 84% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,155 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Qatar.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Qatar amounted to +3.9% per year.
Wheat Gluten Imports in Oman
In 2022, approx. 335 tons of wheat gluten were imported into Oman; which is down by -7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 363 tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, wheat gluten imports declined to $514K in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible downturn.
