Wheat Gluten Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
The average wheat gluten export price stood at $2,061 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -39.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,145 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,605 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1,735 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Wheat Gluten Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
The average wheat gluten import price stood at $902 per ton in September 2023, falling by -46.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,421 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,374 per ton), while the price for China ($817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Wheat Gluten Exports in Australia
In 2022, the amount of wheat gluten exported from Australia totaled 115K tons, approximately mirroring the year before. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 3.9%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, wheat gluten exports soared to $282M in 2022.
