Wheat Bran Price in New Zealand (CIF) - 2022

The average wheat bran import price stood at $323 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat bran import price increased by +29.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $452 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($430 per ton), while the price for Papua New Guinea ($198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wheat Bran Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022

The average wheat bran export price stood at $120 per ton in 2022, increasing by 36% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 72%. The export price peaked at $320 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($1,094 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands stood at $102 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+82.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wheat Bran Imports in New Zealand

In 2022, supplies from abroad of wheat bran decreased by -29.3% to 6.8K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 594%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 12K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wheat bran imports fell rapidly to $2.2M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 498% against the previous year.
