In 2022, the average waxes; artificial, prepared import price amounted to $1,885 per ton, falling by -7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,045 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,982 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($884 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,989 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($9,515 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($1,311 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.7M, and then fell notably in the following year.
