Waxes; Artificial, Prepared Price in Saudi Arabia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average waxes; artificial, prepared import price amounted to $2,591 per ton, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,059 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,251 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,735 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average waxes; artificial, prepared export price amounted to $768 per ton, declining by -1.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,308 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,190 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($494 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of waxes; artificial, prepared decreased by -4.2% to 7.4K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 100% against the previous year.

In value terms, waxes; artificial, prepared imports contracted modestly to $19M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +25.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +97.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year.
