Vegetable Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average vegetable export price amounted to $845 per ton, with a decrease of -2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 12%. The export price peaked at $936 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($1,573 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

The average vegetable import price stood at $2,477 per ton in 2022, which is down by -12.2% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,822 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($6,294 per ton), while the price for China ($1,551 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vegetable Exports in Australia

In 2022, the amount of vegetables exported from Australia contracted to 193K tons, waning by -13.5% against 2021 figures. In general, exports recorded a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 2.1% against the previous year.

In value terms, vegetable exports reduced rapidly to $163M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year.
