Uncured Cheese Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
The average uncured cheese import price stood at $4,168 per ton in October 2023, declining by -5.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 4.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,883 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($4,198 per ton), while the price for Uruguay totaled $3,744 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (-0.5%).
Uncured Cheese Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average uncured cheese export price amounted to $5,411 per ton, with a decrease of -6.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 14% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $6,230 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United States ($6,202 per ton) and Uruguay ($4,576 per ton), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($4,238 per ton) and Chile ($4,360 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Uncured Cheese Imports in Brazil
For the fourth year in a row, Brazil recorded growth in supplies from abroad of unripened or uncured cheese, which increased by 20% to 21K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
