In 2022, the average umbrella import price amounted to $3.2 per unit, rising by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, umbrella import price increased by +92.9% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 47%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($8.8 per unit), while the price for China ($2.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
