In December 2021, the average umbrella import price amounted to $4.5 per unit, rising by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 when the average import price increased by 10% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in December 2021.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($4.5 per unit), while the price for Singapore amounted to $3.3 per unit.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.1%).

In 2022, the average umbrella export price amounted to $6.1 per unit, picking up by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 86% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $8.1 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($11 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
