Twine and Cordage Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average twine and cordage import price amounted to $5,025 per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($26,693 per ton), while the price for India ($2,845 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Twine and Cordage Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average twine and cordage export price amounted to $7,844 per ton, with a decrease of -18.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted measured growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $13,558 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,743 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($2,994 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+17.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Twine and Cordage Imports in Australia

In 2022, purchases abroad of twine, cordage, rope and cables decreased by -17.5% to 12K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, twine and cordage imports declined to $60M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 9.1%.
