Tomato Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022

In January 2022, the average tomato import price amounted to $1,233 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous month. The import price peaked in January 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Armenia ($2,084 per ton), while the price for Turkmenistan ($1,081 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Tomato Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022

The average tomato export price stood at $1,079 per ton in January 2022, rising by 3.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed temperate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2021 an increase of 157% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in January 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($1,830 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($468 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Tomato Imports in Russia

Tomato imports into Russia reduced sharply to 307K tons in 2022, shrinking by -25.1% on the previous year. Overall, imports faced a deep slump. The smallest decline of -11.4% was in 2020.

In value terms, tomato imports fell rapidly to $346M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The smallest decline of -14.4% was in 2020.
