The average tobacco refuse export price stood at $517 per ton in June 2023, with a decrease of -6.2% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 28% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $551 per ton in May 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($834 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($346 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
