Telephone Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022

The average telephone import price stood at $50 per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -12.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $67 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($97 per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($19 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Telephone Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average telephone export price amounted to $145 per unit, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, telephone export price increased by +32.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $146 per unit in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($157 per unit), while the average price for exports to Greece ($25 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Telephone Imports in Italy

In 2022, imports of telephones and videophones into Italy dropped notably to 1.9M units, which is down by -21.7% on the previous year. In general, imports saw a deep slump. The smallest decline of -6.2% was in 2020. Imports peaked at 2.8M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone imports fell notably to $94M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 3.2% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $144M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Telephone Exports in Italy

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of telephones and videophones decreased by -5.1% to 667K units in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +45.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 25%. The exports peaked at 703K units in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, telephone exports declined to $97M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 71% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $103M, and then contracted in the following year.
