Telecommunications Instrument Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
The average telecommunications instrument import price stood at $97.4 per unit in August 2023, jumping by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 457% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $262 per unit in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -6.5% per month.
Telecommunications Instrument Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average telecommunications instrument export price amounted to $266 per unit, shrinking by -20.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 207% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $968 per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,166 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($117 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Telecommunications Instrument Imports in Brazil
In 2022, imports of telecommunications instruments into Brazil rose modestly to 67K units, picking up by 3.7% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, telecommunications instrument imports declined rapidly to $17M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced descent. Telecommunications instrument exports from Brazil fell rapidly to 1.4K units in 2022, reducing by -42.1% against the previous year. Overall, exports recorded a sharp downturn.
